Support Senior Wishes – They do important work – but they can’t do it alone!

We know all about the great work that the folks at Senior Wishes do! They are dedicated to making wishes come true for seniors. They’ve sent seniors on vacations, given swim lessons, birthday parties, family reunions, and or course our favorite wish-story featuring Rosaria Cronwell. Remember her? She’s the 93-year-old who loves to play Mrs. Claus! She checked the final item off her bucket list after a beautiful sleigh ride – thanks to the folks at Senior Wishes.

I know. It’s amazing to think about that. Senior Citizens have hopes and dreams, too. Things they may have wanted to do their entire life and just didn’t get around to it for whatever reason.

So, you see – the folks at Senior Wishes do important work. They help the men and women who have truly dedicated their lives to helping others.

And the truth is, just because someone is aging, it doesn’t mean there are not still things they want to do, pleases they want to see, dreams they want to turn to reality, people they wish to see. Of course they do.

Alvera celebrated her 100th birthday with a massage – her first one!

Ray, 82, a resident of Park Creek Senior Living Community and a former member of the Marine Reserves, recently received a Lift Chair from Senior Wishes

But, of course – these wishes cost money and therefore, fundraisers are essential!

Ethel’s 95th birthday was celebrated this week with cake and punch at United Church Manor. Her two sons and sister joined us for the party. This lifelong Sabres fan, who once had season tickets for 30 years, was presented with a Sabres sweatshirt.

A big one is coming up. Senior Wishes will host their 4th Annual Sips, Suds & Sweets fundraiser. Wendy Backman, Executive Director, says this event is crucial to the organization’s mission: “Sips, Suds and Sweets is our main fundraiser for the year. Funds raised from event guests, auction supporters and sponsors will help us continue to fulfill wishes and further our mission. When you attend Sips, Suds and Sweets, you’re helping people who have dedicated their lives to their families and communities, but now find themselves isolated, physically challenged or financially strapped.”

“Our Sips, Suds and Sweets fundraiser has grown in size and scope each year and this year is no exception. Presented by M&T Bank, with additional support by dozens of other caring community organizations, this year’s event is going to be fabulous. Samples of craft beers, fine wines and a plethora of sweets will be enjoyed to the music of Jay McDonnell. We will have a live wish granting that night, as well as introduce some of our former wish recipients. There will also be silent auctions, basket raffles, a wine pull, and a candy buffet. Complimentary valet parking will be available.”

Enjoy beverages, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, live music and a souvenir wine glass.
