A month of thanks-living – let’s do this together. Day ONE.

Welcome to November; a time to reflect and give thanks. And yes, some folks have more to be thankful than others – but most people, despite challenges and tough times, have something to be thankful for. Even one small thing.

As a mom, I try and teach my girls to be thankful all the time, but of course the Thanksgiving holiday serves as a reminder for all of us. A gentle nudge that says – hey, stop taking things for granted.

A few years ago, Facebook went crazy with “day of thanks” posts. Each day, for thirty days, we were supposed to write something we were thankful for. I was actually worried that I might not have 30 things.

Ridiculous, right? I mean we live in one of the most stable and prosperous countries in the world. We are free to practice our faith. To speak freely about anything. My family and I have everything we need, and many things we want.

Our bad days are nothing compared to some others.  A bad internet connection or slow retail salesperson are not problems.

They’re just not.

That’s why November is a great time to be reminded of what we have – not what we don’t have. To think about and cherish what is right in our world – not worry about what is wrong.

So, I’m calling November – a month of thanks-living.

Maybe you can too.

Let’s find a way to make this month be about gratitude and thankfulness. Let’s take time every day, beginning today, to acknowledge the blessings we have. Write them down. In a Facebook post or just on a piece of paper.

Share them here in the comments if you’d like.

Regardless of what is happening in this Country – we are luckier than most. It’s just true.

If you need help – if you can’t find something to be thankful for today – send me a message and I will try and help you.

I’ve gone through tough times – many – and have thankfully always bounced back to find happiness. You can, too.

Check on friends, family, neighbors. Be sure they’re okay, too.

We can make this a month of thanks-living. A month of gratitude. Let’s choose joy. Together.

Who’s in!? 🙂

Today, since it is November 1st – I have to be thankful for my daughter, Maria. She is 21 today! She almost died 7 years ago – but thank GOD she is here with me today. She is healthy, happy, and successful. She’s an inspiration. She’s what I am thankful for today.
