Another reason to LOVE Buffalo!

It seems like the community has really come together to support the family of Officer Craig Lehner.

So many want to support his relatives, friends, and the entire Buffalo Police Department. I’m sure you’ve seen the countless Facebook posts, tweets, Instagram photos of beautiful blue lights.

There is something truly special, and I believe – unique, about the way this community has come together.

The truth is – most of us had never met this man – never even heard of him. Yet – somehow his death impacts us. Many of us feel sad, heartbroken and want to help.

You can see it. You can feel it.

My husband and I brought our girls to Zittel’s Market in Hamburg today (4415 Southwestern Blvd, Hamburg). We went so the girls could see the cute farm animals and run through the haze. We went for some apple cider other fall favorites.

One of the first things we noticed was a sign. This sign.

They were selling blue pumpkins for a donation to Craig Lehner’s family. I saw a bunch of people with blue pumpkins in their arms. I asked the folks at Zittel’s why it was important to them – they said they love this community. Giving back is a part of their mission – as a business and as human beings. They just started and have gone through 200 already! In a day! That is not surprising to me – but a nice reminder of what this community is all about.

It’s businesses like Zittel’s Market – and people like those standing in line buying blue pumpkins – that made me want to create Totally Buffalo. Because that’s what it is. It’s totally Buffalo. I’m not saying there aren’t nice people in other cities…  there are. But, they’re not like us. It’s just a fact. 🙂
