A local mom is urging parents to check their children for ticks after finding one on her son. The warning post says, in part, “We took gave last night to Pediatric & Adolescent Urgent Care of WNY and they were wonderful. The tick has been removed and sent out for testing. They also informed us that another child brought in right before Gabe to have a tick removed.”

Elizabeth Traquair  says she posted the warning because she wants anyone who cares for little ones to check them from top to bottom each and every day after playing outside.

Here is the original post.

According to the CDC, Illnesses from mosquito, tick, and flea bites have tripled in the U.S., with more than 640,000 cases reported during the 13 years from 2004 through 2016.  Nine new germs spread by mosquitoes and ticks were discovered or introduced into the United States during this time.
